Around the Kitchen – Air Fryer/Toaster Oven

Unless you have lived under a rock you probably know someone who owns an air fryer.

Air fryers have gained a lot of popularity in the last decade. That can be attributed to several factors:

  1. Healthier Cooking Option: One of the main reasons for the popularity of air fryers is their ability to cook food with significantly less oil than traditional deep frying methods. This appeals to health-conscious consumers looking for ways to enjoy crispy and flavorful food with reduced fat content. I generally use an olive oil spray on ours.
  2. Convenience and Speed: Air fryers are known for their convenience and speed. They cook food faster than conventional ovens, and they often require little to no preheating. When preheating is necessary it happens fast! This appeals to individuals with busy lifestyles who seek quick and efficient cooking methods.
  3. Versatility: Air fryers are versatile appliances that can handle a variety of cooking tasks. In addition to frying, they can also roast, grill, bake, and even reheat leftovers. This versatility makes them attractive to consumers looking for a multipurpose kitchen appliance.
  4. Energy Efficiency: Compared to traditional ovens, air fryers are generally more energy-efficient. Their smaller size and faster cooking times contribute to reduced energy consumption, making them appealing to those who are environmentally conscious.
  5. Trend Towards Healthier Lifestyles: As people become more health-conscious and seek ways to make healthier food choices, the promise of achieving crispy and tasty results with less oil has driven the adoption of air fryers.
  6. Compact Size for Modern Living Spaces: Air fryers are generally compact and fit well in modern, smaller living spaces such as apartments and condominiums. Their size and portability make them suitable for a variety of kitchen setups.
  7. Improvements in Technology: Advancements in technology have led to the development of more efficient and user-friendly air fryers. Manufacturers have introduced features like digital controls, preset cooking programs, and improved heating mechanisms.

Our air fryer has become a staple in our kitchen as well as many kitchens around the world.

I use our air fryer nearly everyday. It is made by Emeril Lagasse and it has multiple settings including air fry, bake, broil, toast, reheat, slow cook, rotisserie, and dehydrate!

I love the rotisserie setting – we often cook a 1-2 pound pork tenderloin using the provided skewers and they are very easy to insert in the meat. It always comes out very juicy as well! Everything (the skewers, pans and drip trays are dishwasher safe as well). Mine normally has crumbs on the bottom (or melted cheese) and, just like any other toaster type of item) I shake it outside or over a garbage can (unplugged) to get the majority of them out.

If I do not want to cook a lot of food at one time, or heat up the house using the full-sized oven, or you need another way to keep dishes warm while cooking other items and more – this is the solution!

Hi – I am Holli. I am married to Drew and we have 5 kids and a large extended family. The majority of the kids are out of the house – only the 14 year old is left at home. My mom (who is 80 and has Alzheimer’s) also lives with us. I have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I love cooking. It is my love language. I have tried to pass that on to my kids. Lord knows they saw me cooking a lot of meals in a lot of ways and with a lot of mistakes made along the way.
